Geitaskarð

Next weekend we go to Laxárdalur (a deserted valley parallel to Langidalur) and round up our horses and the horses of our neighbours.  Estimated number of riders is 300. It is one of the greatest weekends of the year for us, as we, in the company of neighbors, friends, family and complete strangers (many of them foreign) round up our horses and drive them to the Skrapatunga corall. Our posse will consist of around 60 people – at least 30 riders.  The weather forecast is good and it looks like we will have a terrific weekend yet again. We are looking forward.

It is virtually impossible to describe this to those who have never experienced this. The wilderness, the people, the horses, the nature somehow all play a part to make this a memorable weekend. Perhaps these pictures help a bit to describe it.
